A Safe Place for Meow is a fully volunteer run cat rescue focused on giving stray and abandoned cats across the Northern Territory a second chance.
Unlike traditional shelters, the organisation operates through a foster based model, meaning cats are cared for in loving homes rather than housed in a physical facility. This allows each cat to receive individual care, socialisation, and support while they prepare for adoption.
Their work is centred around rescuing cats from the streets, pounds, and veterinary clinics, where the need is greatest. While they may assist with surrenders in certain situations, their primary focus is helping stray cats who have no other safety net.
As a solely volunteer based organisation, every dollar raised goes directly back into the care of the cats, supporting vet treatment, rehabilitation, and rehoming efforts.
At its core, the organisation is built on compassion, responsibility, and community, with a simple belief that every cat deserves a safe place to meow.
A Safe Place for Meow needed more than just a website. They needed a system that could support their day to day rescue work while making it easier for the community to connect with them.
As a fully volunteer run organisation, time and resources are limited. The goal was to reduce admin, streamline enquiries, and create a central place for adoptions, fostering, and communication.
We also worked closely with members of the organisation’s board throughout the process, ensuring updates aligned with their structure and could be reviewed and approved as needed.
We designed and developed a fully customised website and support system tailored to the needs of a growing rescue organisation.
The focus was on creating something practical, easy to manage, and built to evolve over time.
This included:
The website now acts as both a public facing platform and an internal support tool for the rescue.
Enquiries are more organised, processes are more efficient, and the team spends less time on repetitive admin tasks.
Potential adopters can easily view available cats, learn about the process, and get in touch, while the organisation continues to grow its reach within the community.
Beyond the website itself, this project forms part of a broader ecosystem designed to support the organisation’s long term visibility and impact.
Through ongoing collaboration and support across platforms, including App Forge and Misha Creative Studio, the goal is to help share their mission more widely and connect with more people in the community.
Because ultimately, it’s not just about building a website. It’s about helping more cats find safe, loving homes and supporting the people who make that possible.
